If your vehicle has sustained damage or is experiencing mechanical issues and is immobile, please call our breakdown service at +354 824 4000 for support and assistance.

  • The specific location for returning your vehicle is indicated in the "Location Details" section of your Rental Agreement. Additionally, the return date and time can be found in the "Rental Information" section of the same agreement.

  • We have a phone number on the back side of all of our keychains for breakdown service. Initiate a call with them and ask for assistance.

  • Unfortunately no, the name on the Rental Agreement, the “named” or “main” driver, must remain as it has been reserved.  Should the main driver be unable to drive the vehicle or pick up the reservation, the rental must be cancelled and re-booked under the new designated name at current pay at location rates.  Please note that for any cancelled reservations there may be cancellation fees as set out in our booking terms and conditions.

    If the rental has already begun, you may wish to add an additional driver so that another individual can drive the vehicle, however the named driver cannot be changed.

  • You can see what type of fuel your rental vehicle needs above the fuel lid and on your check out rental agreement.

  • Don't worry. If your vehicle does not start, please call the emergency breakdown helpline provided on your keychain. Our team is available to assist you anytime, anywhere. However, please be aware that breakdown coverage may not cover all situations.

  • If you notice any damage on the vehicle that is not documented in your Vehicle Condition Report, you have 12 hours from the time of collection to report it. This timeframe allows for sufficient daylight to thoroughly inspect the vehicle if collected during hours of low visibility.
    To report unregistered damage, please take clear photographs of the affected areas and email them to the address provided in the Vehicle Condition Report. For efficient processing, include your Rental Agreement Number or Vehicle License Number in the subject line of the email.

  • In the event of an accident, please prioritize your safety by contacting emergency services at 112 for police and ambulance assistance. If your vehicle has sustained damage or is experiencing mechanical issues and is immobile, please call our breakdown service at +354 824 4000 for support and assistance.

  • In Iceland, most parking and speeding fines are issued electronically. If we receive notification of an unpaid fine, we are required to provide your personal information to the authorities.

    Parking fines: These will be charged to your Rental Agreement along with a service fee.

    Speeding fines: A service fee will be applied for reviewing and cooperating with the authorities. The local authorities will charge speeding fines directly to you.

  • If you are not satisfied with your rental vehicle for any reason, we encourage you to contact our call center at +354 591 4000 or email us at avis@avis.is so we can address your concerns. Should you experience any mechanical issues with the car, please reach out to our breakdown service at +354 824 4000 for prompt assistance.

  • If you wish to extend your rental for 1-2 days, there is no need to contact the rental station directly. You may proceed with your extention. For extentions beyond two days, please contact our call center at +354 591 4000 or email us at avis@avis.is. If you require information on the price for an additional day, you can refer to your check out rental agreement, or contact our call center for further details.

  • Yes, you can return the vehicle to a different location without any issues. However, please note that returning to a location different from the one initially agreed upon may incur a One Way Fee charge on your Rental Agreement. The rate of this fee can vary depending on the locations involved.

  • You are charged for each day (24 hours) you have a vehicle on rent. Whether you rent it for just two hours or 24 hours, you will be charged for the full day.

    If you return the vehicle and any optional extras early, you will lose the benefit of any special offers if you no longer meet their requirements. This may result in the rental costing you more. There is no refund for any unused days.
